Our Seahorse Journey

In 2010 we - the Berger family - started operating our own agricultural business in Boxbrunn. After years of being customer in several stables, we became stable operator ourselves.

In 2011 my partner Rebecca Pfäffle and me - Oliver Berger - moved to the barn in Boxbrunn.

After having no indoor arena in the first snowy winter, my family started building up and renovating the estate step by step. To handle the construction work while operating the stable with all the horses was a big challenge.

With my father running the business and my mother as well as the Pfäffle family as long term horse experts we offered top service already back then.

Time after time it became clear that my parents rather wanted to have the time to enjoy their horses then being fully responsible for the stable.

This was an important factor in our decision to move to Belgium in 2018 to start working at the Stephex Stables in order to learn all the skills needed to run a modern horse business. Stephex is one of the most well known showjumping stables in the world. Probably there is no better way of learning than working with the best in their business. If you are looking for world class horses and riders, Stephex is the place to go. We are still very thankful for the chance that Stephan Conter as the Stephex-owner gave us: Rebecca was able to ride for Daniel Deusser and train horses like Cornet D' Amour and Tobago Z, while I was riding the top-horses of Emilie and Zoe' Conter as well as competing with beautiful young horses in shows. Working with this highly professional team was the greatest experience for us and teached us a lot.

After being there for one year we moved back to Boxbrunn and took over the family business from my parents.

The management of the huge farm with fields, forests and fish is a giant project for us that never ends. It´s the spirit of sport that helps us to tackle challenges and accept throwbacks. With the help of friends and clients we manage to overcome difficult situations instead of giving up. We continue doing this by further improving the infrastructure of the stable and developing new facilities.

After basically starting as grooms in 2019 mucking the whole stable and feeding the horses we are working now with up to four employees plus a rider in order to satisfy the demand and to assure the quality level we target while maintaining the agricultural side of the farm.

By expanding of our outdoor arena in 2020 we were able to make the most of the Corona-interruption and create the base for our projects in the sport sector.

These are our showjumping event, the Seahorse Summer Session as well as the establishment of our club PSC-Seahorse as well as the brokerage of horses for private clients Seahorse Sales.

Rebecca and me are active showjumpers and compete regularly.

Back in the pony times I became Bavarian Champion and was part of the German team competing in several nations cups. Later I made a 4th place in the German championships for juniors and got the golden riding badge with 17 years. While I finished my bachelor degree I also achieved several front places in world ranking classes competing in the senior segment.

Rebecca also had her success in big classes up to 140 cm and has an extraordinary feeling for young and special horses. Before she came to Boxbrunn she already showed the family´s self breeded horses in the youngster classes and made great results.

At Seahorse we have managed to successfully show our clients horses up to the big classses. Four of our youngsters competed at the "Bundeschampionat" in Warendorf, two of them managed to qualify for the Finals. Cassini49 made a great 9th place at the 7-year-olds in 2023 and competed succesfully at the world breeding championships in Lanaken as well. What makes it special is that we rode most of our horses from the beginning and brought them into the sport.

While it´s nice to look back, it´s better to watch out for what´s coming especially as a rider.

The more proud we are to have such a great collection of young horses stabled in Boxbrunn by several generous horse owners. With them under the saddle we are very hopeful to continue our success story.

Maybe also with your horse?
